Bleary-eyed and hungover, the Penguins enter Free Agency with the Stanley Cup in tow and their core of players all locked up. What do you get for the team that has everything?

Depth. You get depth.

That’s exactly what General Manager Jim Rutherford did, after locking himself up to a 3-year extension. J.R. signed six players to identical 1-year, 2-way contracts for the league minimum ($575k).

The players are:

  • LW – Tom Sestito (Re-Signed)
  • D – Steve Oleksy (Re-signed)
  • D – David Warsofsky (NJD)
  • D – Stuart Percy (TOR)
  • D – Cameron Gaunce (FLA)
  • D – Chad Ruhwedel (BUF)

Ben Lovejoy:

Former Pens GM / current Devils GM Ray Shero continues to fancy his former players, signing Ben Lovejoy to a 3-year contract valued at $8 million.

Jeff Zatkoff:

Zatkoff signs a 2-year deal with the LA Kings for $1.8 million.
